Advanced Zoom Features

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, videoconferencing apps have become the habitual choice for connecting virtually in personal and business environments. Zoom is now the platform of choice for many businesses, schools, and even individuals choosing to stay home. The Zoom app allows for webinars, virtual meetings, collaborative opportunities, and many other awesome features. Since Zoom is such a popular way to communicate now, it’s important to be aware of the more advanced features:

  1. Virtual Backgrounds – This feature allows users to use a picture or a video as their background during a meeting. To turn on the virtual background, users can log into the Zoom web portal and go to settings. In settings, they can toggle on the Virtual Background option. This is a great option for those who are working from home but do not have an office space.
  2. Meeting Transcription –The meeting transcription feature is handy for paid subscribers. To enable this feature, users must be logged in to Zoom web portal. In settings, navigate to the Cloud Recording option and make sure the recording tab is on. In the Advanced cloud recording settings, the user will be able to check the Audio Transcript box. To generate a transcript, start a cloud recording during the meeting. After the meeting has ended, the user will receive an email with your available audio transcript.
  3. Nonverbal Feedback – Educators can best benefit from the nonverbal feedback option. With this feature, users can manage large groups of muted participants. To enable this feature, toggle on the Nonverbal Feedback setting under In Meeting (basic) section in Settings. Once this feature is enabled, participants in the meeting can now see a section of icons that they can use to communicate with the host while still muted. The icons include raise/lower hand, yes, no, go slower, go faster, and more. When a participant presses one of these options, it automatically appears near their name to see the host.

Since Zoom has become an everyday program used by millions professionally, it is best to follow tips like these to elevate a meeting experience.
